Believe it or not, Week 9 of the college football season is here. With a massive Week 8 behind us, this week’s card is not loaded with nearly the amount of heavy-hitting matchups, but there’s college football on the TV 5 days this week — which is always a win.

Here are the top 50 teams in my power ratings going into Week 9.

Despite Indiana beating Oregon in Eugene and rising to number 2 in my power ratings last week, the cpu seemed to value Oregon’s Week 8 win at Rutgers much more than Indiana’s home win over Michigan State. It makes sense given Rutgers > Michigan State in my power ratings, but an interesting boost nonetheless. LSU, Washington, and Nebraska are the biggest fallers from last week to this week. Louisville moves up into the top 25.

We’ve reached the point of the season where I start trimming the fat and evaluating more of a recent sample size than just the full season. I believe it gives you a more accurate representation of how a team is playing going into their current matchup, while weeding out some of the buy-games and other cupcakes. From here on out, I will evaluate the most recent 5 weeks for all of the advanced metrics.
