Insights: Harris makes his first start since the Ryder Cup and his first tournament appearance since Procore on 9/14. Before the break, his putter was doing most of the heavy lifting while his irons hovered around field average, and that pattern could easily repeat this week. Still, the number feels a bit short given the extended layoff and the fact that he has recorded zero Top 5 finishes on a course he’s played in 12 of the last 13 years. A cautious, tempered approach is warranted.

Insights: Si Wooooo pulls up for his first start since the DPWT Genesis on 10/26, and yeah—he’s riding 12 straight losses with the putter, last gaining on June 1. The irons have been trending down since the FedEx Cup playoffs, but the ball-striking off the tee stays steady like a metronome. Short course specialist, no question, and even with the putter shaky and the approach game in flux, the résumé speaks for itself. Sporadic course history or not, he’s still built for a solid, grind-it-out Top 30 finish.

Insights: Young Thor enters as the rightful odds-on favorite for some sportsbooks, and the recent form backs it up: 10 of his last 14 rounds in the 60s across Baycurrent, Utah, and WWT, plus he’s coming in fresh after smartly skipping last week’s wind fest. At this point the only real question is between the ears—not the game. Short-term buys are fully justified, and even 20/1 is a fair number in this field. He posted a 66 here last year after Day 1 and has multiple 66–67s in his baseline right now, well within his wheelhouse to contend again. Easily the strongest of the three free deep dives this week.

Insights: Bramlett is the classic DFS dart this week: season-long stats still sparkle, but the recent form… not so much. The putter’s been ice cold, the irons have cooled since September, and the off the tee game has been a full-blown theme park ride. There are better options — but there’s also a little hope. He fired a 64 here in Round 3 last year and has stacked five of his last eight rounds on this track in the 60s. If you squint, there’s a fun upside case… just know you’re signing up for the rollercoaster.

Insights: Bud Cauley steps back into action for the first time since Japan, sitting at OWGR 65 and staring down a path that almost certainly requires a win to crack the top 50 and earn that long-awaited return invite to Augusta. It’s the kind of storyline golf fans quietly root for — a veteran who’s been through setbacks, surgeries, and comebacks, finding one more spark. His history here runs deep, with strong finishes more than a decade ago and a rock-solid 25th last year where he gained in every category except the putter. The blueprint is there, the motivation is real, and if the flatstick cooperates, this could be one of those weeks where the game gives back and the happy ending writes itself.

SG Gains:
FORM: 61/40/MC/40
Tournament Results: 5/MC/57/54
Comp Results: 13/31/40
Insights: Hodges is the classic “cuts machine”—making it through, but rarely threatening to shake up the leaderboard. Last week was brutal, with zero rounds in the 60s and only sporadic strokes gained over his last four starts. The putter remains a rollercoaster, approach game has been inconsistent since July, and off-the-tee volatility could easily lead to another missed cut—even after a 5th-place showing here last year. He hasn’t gained on approach in four trips here and lost strokes on the greens in three of four. That said, there’s still a sliver of opportunity: a smart, short-term dart throw or a second-round pivot after seeing Thursday’s form could deliver value. Patrons willing to play it carefully might find a nugget hidden in the chaos.

Comp Results: 6/7/9/16/42/50/56/72/MC/MC/MC/MC
Insights: Chris Kirk returns for his first tournament since August, when he kicked off and bounced from the FedEx Cup playoffs. His recent form at this course has been spotty, though history reminds us he’s won here before, with his best outings coming 7, 10, and 11 years ago. Outright betting is a tough call—under 40/1 feels too rich given the layoff—but there’s intrigue for the savvy DFS bettor. Matchups or a look after Round 1 can reveal the level of rust and whether he’s ready to contend. Cautious on Thursday, but could be a live add if signs show he is up for the task this week.

FORM: 61/63/20/MC
Tournament Results: MC/5/MC
Comp Results: 63/63/79
Insights: Ben Kohles enters the week with no strokes gained in his last two starts and a loss in SG total in three of his past four tournaments. Last week, he failed to break 70 in any round, including a final-round 79 in brutal conditions, though the prior week he managed three rounds in the 60s before closing with a 72. His 5th-place finish here in 2023 came with over a stroke gained on approach and solid performance on the greens. While the shorter layout and calmer conditions this week will suit, the recent trend suggests he may struggle to contend. Here’s hoping Ben proves the doubters—and this narrative—wrong.

Insights: PRod had a rough start last week with a 76 in Round 1, but bounced back with a 68 to remind us of the potential. As last week’s deep dive suggested, this week was the one we circled for him to pop and thankfully the price is right after last week’s missed cut. Course history including a runner-up here in 2019 reinforce why we’re bullish. There are never guarantees, but clubhouse is giddy for a strong bounce back from Patrick. Playable across all formats and betting markets, and yes, he’ll draw DFS attention—but for those willing to sweat it out, this is one worth backing.

FORM: 34/MC/60/40

Insights: Breaking news for the Kevin Roy faithful: the “GOAT” continues to deliver flashes, but this week calls for caution. As a Roy truther, we’ve guided patrons on when to buy and sell all year, and this is a short-term play at best. He has shown he can go low in Sea Island —four of six rounds in the 60s but the overall body of recent play shows only four of his last 14 rounds have broken 70. On a course where multiple sub-70 rounds will be needed to contend, relying on him for DFS or outright finishing position is a tough hill to climb even for a the ROY goat.

*No SG for Bermuda and Baycurrent starts
FORM: 3/MC/4/MC
Tournament Results: MC/44/5/MC
Comp Results: 39/65/MC
Insights: Smalley showed serious form last week, finishing right in the mix for his second Top 5 in three starts. His Sunday 68 was just one shot off the low round of the day, and he posted the lowest weekend score with rounds of 65-68. The only blemish—a 74—will be the area he looks to clean up this week, and when he does, expect him in a late Sunday pairing. During his recent run of form he has posted six of 10 rounds in the 60s including a 64 and 65 on Sunday. At 40/1, he’s an appealing option, and the clubhouse suggest playing him early and often for first-round leader, 3-ball matchups, and DFS in both cash and GPPs.

FORM: MC/21/19/11

Comp Results: 33/15
Insights: DT hasn’t teed it up since Utah almost a month ago, and his game has been a real rollercoaster lately. History around Sea Island hasn’t been kind for the Georgia Bulldog—five of six starts with negative SG totals and only one round gaining on the greens. Clubhouse expects rust out of the gates but truth be told, we aren’t expecting much for Mr. Big Mitts. Could he contend? Yes, the potential is there if he rolls back time and plays like he did at the Deere in July, but that was five months ago. Best approach? DFS pivot, sure and possible live bet, but honest recommendation is keep your money in your pocket.
