Insights: Rightfully a co-favorite at the top of the odds board, Mav enters ranked 19th in the OWGR and coming off a solid T13 in his first start since the Ryder Cup snub at Bethpage. The West Coast native should thrive in Utah and also loves shorter layouts (2nd in the field), Bentgrass greens (7th), and desert-style tracks (7th). His lone PGA Tour win came during last year’s Fall Swing at the RSM, so there’s no concern about peaking this time of year. No issue betting top of the board this week with hopeful results as Xander’s Japan win at 10/1.

Tournament Results: WD (Round 1 67)
Comp Results: 61/74/MC
Insights: Young Thor returns to Utah after last year’s shortened appearance, where he gained +2.04 strokes on approach in Round 1 before withdrawing. While off-the-tee struggles hurt him then, the driver hasn’t been an issue in 2025—the real weakness remains around the greens, where he’s gained in only 5 of 19 starts. Fortunately, the large putting surfaces this week should help minimize that flaw. Still searching for his first win, Young Thor faces the added pressure of needing to go low in what’s likely to be a birdie fest. The talent is there, and he’s capable of breaking through, but the clubhouse would need odds in the mid-20s to invest. Champ’s first hat tip of the week—just as X was last week—and you know how that one went…

FORM: 27/1/MC/1
Tournament Results: DEBUT
Comp Results: 2/6/9/14/21/25/44/53/MC/MC
Insights: With two impressive wins on the DP World Tour in his last four starts, Noren has a strong case to be this week’s betting favorite. The only caveat, of course, still looking for that first PGA Tour win. Long term, clubhouse envisions Alex with a potential “Ryan Fox 2025 profile”—poised to carry international momentum into multiple PGA Tour victories in 2026. Noren fired 69-65 to sit just four shots back heading into the weekend last week before cooling off with 73-70. Ranked 9th in this field on shorter courses and 9th on Bentgrass greens, plus a runner-up finish at altitude in Reno-Tahoe ticks boxes this week even on DEBUT. Slight discount over the other two names at the top of the market and clubhouse recommendation is take it.

FORM: MC/3/23/MC
Tournament Results: 54 (70-67-70-69)
Comp Results: 3/14/34/39/40/58/MC/MC/MC/MC
Insights: A disappointing showing at the Sanderson for Lanto after Champ backed him following his 3rd-place finish at ProCore. The stats still keep him inside the clubhouse’s Top 10 this week, but the trend line isn’t favorable.. The putter remains hot—which he’ll need in Utah—but outside of a 3rd-place finish at the AMEX back in 2022, there’s little recent evidence of course-fit success. Fine as a “make the cut” parlay piece, but there’s too much red in the profile to back with real confidence.

FORM: 4/MC/9/67
Tournament Results: 21 (66-69-68-67)
Comp Results: 8/8/20/58/MC/MC
Insights: Rico continues to wander near the top of the odds board even while leaking oil with the flat stick. Even so, a T4 last week keeps him in form—though without strokes-gained data, it’s tough to gauge how well he truly struck it. The short game remains the concern (limited concern this week due to size of greens), but his approach and off-the-tee play should generate plenty of birdie looks. He posted four rounds in the 60s here last year and ranks 9th in the field in altitude performance and 13th on desert-style tracks. 17th in field on Bentgrass greens won’t mean much to outsiders but for someone who just needs the putter to click to get over the hump could be the silver lining for DFS players. The odds feel a bit steep, but exposure to Rico this week is warranted by clubhouse standards.

FORM: 48/19/9/31
Tournament Results: 25 (65-70-64-72)
Comp Results: 8/14/23/49/58/MC/MC
Insights: Based on OWGR, birdie-or-better percentage, and Bentgrass green performance, Kitty leads this week by a clear margin. While a lackluster showing in Japan may have tempered expectations for some, his prior four starts (19th, 9th, 31st, 1st) demonstrate the form and capability to contend for a top-5 finish or a win. Rounds of 64 and 65 here last year, a Top 10 at the WMPO, and 14th at the Cuda in elevation provide a strong, data-backed case for backing him in outright, first-round leader, and DFS markets.
Ben Kohles

FORM: MC/26/MC/20
Tournament Results: 46 (65-64-71-75)
Comp Results: 21/47/50/79/MC/MC/MC/WD
Insights: Kohles’ approach game is excellent, but the putter continues to struggle. More of a plotter than a bomber, he should benefit from the altitude and shorter course layout this week—similar to his 65-64 start here last year. Recent weekends have been inconsistent, making a win unlikely, but at 150/1, a made cut or plausible Top 20 finish could yield a small profit. Player matchups and 3-ball plays can be approached with confidence, while first-round leader and top 10/20 bets are better suited for risk-tolerant bettors.

Comp Results: MC/MC
Insights: The defending champion returns to Utah ready to defend his title. Last year, he arrived off three KFT wins in a six-start span, making just his second PGA Tour start—proof that talent, confidence, and a hot putter (he gained 1.5 strokes on the greens for the week) can deliver immediate success. This year, Matt comes in with two Top 20s in his last three starts and a lone Top 5 back in June. The key takeaway for the clubhouse: his final-round 60 in Japan last week en route to a T14 finish. Bringing that form back to a course where he’s thrived, there’s every reason to expect the defending champion near the top of the leaderboard once again.

FORM: MC/53/55/57
Tournament Results: MC (71-69)
Comp Results: 8/49/MC/MC/MC/MC
Insights: Poor results over his last four starts stem from a cold putter and inconsistent off-the-tee play. The three-week break since his last event should have given him time to make some adjustments. He missed the cut here last year after losing strokes both on approach and on the greens, but that stretch last fall was among his worst statistical runs. A proven First Round Leader threat, the clubhouse is holding off on that market this week and instead sees him as a smart DFS pivot or full-tournament matchup play—offering plenty of upside over 72 holes with a solid floor.
Alex Smalley

FORM: 4/MC/MC/MC
Tournament Results: 25 (67-69-66-69)
Comp Results: 11/21/21/22/25/33/MC
Insights: Few players in this field are as tricky to gauge as Smalley, given the lack of SG data from the Baycurrent. Still, a 4th-place finish highlighted by rounds of 65 and 64 shows his game is trending in the right direction after five missed cuts in a seven-week span. Course comps suggest modest upside but clear Top 20 potential this week. He’s a strong DFS play with legitimate boom-or-bust appeal, though the clubhouse advises against going all-in just yet. The signs are positive, and another solid showing could make him a popular target heading into the RSM.
