Insights: Chris Gotterup arrives at the Rocket Classic with one of the strongest statistical profiles in the field after another solid major showing at The Open. He's gained off the tee in each of his last four starts, including elite driving performances over his last three, while the approach play has remained comfortably above average in three of those events. The concern this week isn't current form—it's course history. In three previous trips to Detroit Golf Club, he's yet to record a top-20 finish, with inconsistent approach play preventing him from putting four rounds together despite consistently gaining off the tee. He did fire one of the low rounds of the day with a Saturday 65 here last season, showing the scoring ability is there, but two poor rounds have repeatedly taken him out of contention. At +1600, I think the price fully reflects his recent rise and doesn't leave much room for error. The models will love him, and I wouldn't fault anyone for backing him, but I'd rather pay up for CY or look elsewhere on the board. First Round Leader has some appeal given his ability to go low, but as an outright this is more of a respectful hat tip than a betting opportunity for me. -C

Insights: Rinse and repeat for Xander every week. I like Xander a lot, but I’m still waiting for the form to justify the cost. Now, in this field, his price makes way more sense, but the bigger issue is that he’s never played on this course. Moreover, he’s been very inconsistent on approach lately, losing significant strokes with his irons in half of his last six events. Not to mention, his putting has been dreadful over the last three and a half months — losing stokes in all but 2 starts. He’s finished no higher than 7th in that span because of the inconsistent overall profile. He’s a hat tip for me. I just need to see it first, and we’ve yet to see any type of ceiling performance from him since the first couple days at the Players. -S

Insights: Cameron Young returns to Detroit Golf Club as the betting favorite, and it's easy to see why. Since the Masters, he's been one of the best ball strikers on Tour, gaining consistently off the tee, on approach and around the greens, with the putter finally showing signs of life during his runner-up finish at The Open. That performance only reinforced the feeling that another victory is coming, and this venue fits his game perfectly. In three Rocket Classic appearances, he's recorded finishes of 2nd, 6th and 46th, shooting nine of his 12 rounds in the 60s, including a pair of low rounds of the day during his debut in 2022. Detroit Golf Club rewards elite drivers who can create birdie chances, and Young checks every box statistically. The only real question is the emotional hangover after coming so close at Royal Birkdale, but a return to a course where he's consistently contended could be exactly what he needs. At +1100, the price isn't exactly a gift, but everything points toward another week in the mix. If you can stomach the short odds, it's hard to argue against him, and I fully expect him to be in contention come Sunday. -C

Insights: Kurt Kitayama returns to TPC Twin Cities with arguably the best course history in the field. Last year’s victory was fueled by a Saturday 60 and a clutch bunker save on the 72nd hole to secure the title, while he also finished sixth here in 2022. Across those two appearances, he’s gained consistently off the tee and on approach, proving this layout perfectly complements his aggressive style. Even with an underwhelming run of results since the PGA Championship, the underlying ball striking has remained solid, gaining off the tee in each of his last four starts and on approach in three of them. The biggest hurdle this week is the price. After cashing a 30/1 ticket on Kitayama last year, asking bettors to jump in again at +2300 is a much tougher sell. “Defending champion” route I don’t expect to be over popular this week, but I’m a bit more cautious despite loving the course fit. His putting has cooled and the recent finishes don’t quite justify the number, making this a respectful hat tip. That said if the irons heat up the way they have here before, don’t be surprised to see Kitayama back on the first page of the leaderboard come Sunday and early Thursday. -C

Insights: Mav enters the 3M Open in some pretty shaky ball-striking form, having lost over 5 strokes on Approach in his last 2 starts combined. In fact, irons have been an issue for him for essentially the entire season at this point, losing strokes on Approach in nine of his last 13 events. As such, the ceiling really hasn’t been there for him in 2026. His best finishes are 10th at Memorial and Farmers, and his course history is a mixed bag. Having said that, if he somehow found his irons after his international journey back from a missed cut at the Open, his short game is plenty good enough to do the heavy lifting. Proximity will be key for Mav this week, but we haven’t seen much of his top form this year, so at this price, I have to be out. -S

Insights: After spiking to 8/1 at the Open, Scottie returns to the range in which we have grown accustomed to seeing him, going off currently at shorter than 3/1 despite not having played this event — not that that matters for the World #1. I’m not entirely sure why he’s playing this event, but I fully expect him to finally get over the little hurdle he’s found and earn his first victory since the AmEx in January. It’s not like his form has been bad, as he’s finished T4 or better nine other times this season. Fatigue is a slight concern, but the skill gap in this tournament is fairly wide, and that’s depicted by the delta in the betting odds from Scottie to the second-favorite at longer than 25/1. Honestly, I wouldn’t argue with you if you made this a “without Scottie” market week. If you somehow have him left in OAD, wait for the playoff events to use him, but don’t be afraid to fire him up on your betting card and DFS lineups. -S

Insights: Corey Conners heads to the 3M Open with his ball striking trending at exactly the right time. He followed a seventh-place finish at the Travelers with 14th at The Open, gaining with his irons in both starts while producing one of his better approach weeks of the season at Royal Birkdale. TPC Twin Cities should suit his fairways-and-greens style, and although he’s only made one prior appearance here, he ranked first in Ball Striking and fifth Tee-to-Green in 2019 despite finishing just 46th after a cold week on the greens. The putter will always dictate Conners’ ceiling, but this tournament has rewarded elite ball strikers who simply find a serviceable week on the greens. That’s exactly the blueprint I’m betting on. His game feels very similar to what we saw at the Travelers, where consistent tee-to-green play kept him in contention throughout the week. Add in extra motivation with Presidents Cup qualification on the line, and I like his chances to contend. At +4500, Conners is one of my favorite placement bets this week along with a sprinkle on the Outright. -C

Insights: The Glove has been playing some good golf of late, finishing T3 at the Deere before a 5th at the ISCO. Sammy was on him at the Deere and was able to cash an each-way on him, while Champ was on him at ISCO — where he was in it until the very end. We’ve seen plenty of Glover in the last couple weeks to know it was the putting that ultimately let him down in both events, especially on the weekends. For reference, he lost just short of 5.5 strokes on the greens Saturday and Sunday at ISCO after losing more than two strokes on those days at the Deere. This price is appealing yet again in a weak field — though not as weak as the previous two in which he played — but I would only bet outrights if you’re including each-ways. Otherwise, if you’re interested in betting Glover this week, encompass his potential upside with a placement ladder from T30 to T10 or T5, depending on your risk tolerance. I wouldn’t blame you if you were pessimistic about his chances this week like I am, though. -S

Insights: A couple months ago, you would have looked at Homa’s statistical profile and seen a lot of red and negative numbers, but he’s found some form of late — posting four top-30 results in his last five events with plenty of green in his profile. That includes his solo 2nd at the Deere, where he gained significantly across every major Strokes Gained category. He was even solid at the Open despite a T28, as it was his -2.2 strokes lost around the greens that really held him back. At 50/1, there are worse bets you could make, especially considering he has a T3 finish here — even if it was back in 2020. Ideally, you could pair that with 5 or 8 places and still get somewhere in the 45/1 range, which I don’t mind if you’re not planning on betting Scottie solo. -S

Insights: The Open was the first event since mid-March that Sungjae Im gained strokes with his irons. Yes, he had lost strokes on Approach in 13 straight events prior, which is why he has missed more cuts than he has finished Top 10 in 2026. At 50/1, the price is very appealing, especially in this field, but I admit that’s due to name recognition alone. If I’m being honest with myself, I want to see more sustained ball-striking form before I invest in Sungjae for the first time this year, though I will say, a T14 finish with solid gains across the board last week is a good place to start. -S

Insights: Hideki Matsuyama quietly enters the 3M Open in solid form after back-to-back top-15 finishes at the Travelers and The Open. His game has been trending in the right direction with gains off the tee in consecutive starts, strong approach play in four of his last five events and one of his most consistent around-the-green stretches of the season. TPC Twin Cities has also treated him well, finishing seventh here on debut and producing a pair of opening 64s during his career, proving he can get off to fast starts on this layout. As always with Hideki, the putter will determine just how high he climbs. His ball-striking profile fits this course well, and if he can put together a third straight positive driving week while keeping the irons warm, he’ll have every chance to contend. The outright price isn’t a steal, but when Hideki is in form, few players are better equipped to stare down the strongest fields on Sunday. I’m comfortable backing him this week, with First Round Leader, Each-Way and the Outright all firmly in play. -C

Insights: Keith Mitchell returns to TPC Twin Cities looking for what may be one of his best remaining chances to finally break through in 2026. The underlying metrics continue to impress, gaining off the tee in all four recent starts while the approach game has remained consistently strong. His Open Championship ended with a missed cut, but after skipping the Scottish Open he should arrive refreshed at a course where he’s twice finished fifth and proven he can contend against quality fields. If there’s one thing Mitchell has shown over the years, it’s that this layout fits his eye. The profile is very “Keith Mitchell”—elite tee-to-green, enough birdie chances to win, and the putter ultimately deciding his fate. His approach play has improved over his last two visits, while the driver has been surprisingly quieter than expected at TPC Twin Cities. If the flat stick cooperates for four rounds, this is absolutely a tournament he can win. I’m circling both First Round Leader and the Outright this week, and if Mitchell is going to add another PGA Tour victory, this feels like one of his best opportunities to do it. -C

Insights: Gary Woodland returns to one of his better venues looking to rebound after a disappointing finish to the links swing. His missed cut at The Open and 71st at the Scottish Open were his two worst results since a top-10 at the U.S. Open, but a return to the States and a course that clearly suits his eye could be exactly what he needs. Woodland has teed it up here four straight years, posting finishes of 11th, 20th and 37th, with 10 of his 14 career rounds in the 60s and multiple weekends spent inside the top 10. The biggest hurdle remains converting good ball striking into four complete rounds. He’s lost strokes putting here in three of four appearances, while the driver has generally been solid rather than dominant. The encouraging sign is his approach play has improved over his last two trips to TPC Twin Cities, and if he can recapture anything close to the form he showed at the U.S. Open, another top-10 is well within reach. At +5500, I’d lean each-way, Top 20s, Matchups and 3-Balls over an outright, but don’t be surprised if Woodland bounces back and spends another weekend hanging around the first page of the leaderboard. -C

Insights: Blades Brown continues to be one of the most exciting young talents in golf, but +2500 is asking bettors to pay for the ceiling before the résumé fully catches up. The 19-year-old has shown flashes of elite upside, including a final-round 65 last week and multiple instances this season where he entered Sunday in position to contend before settling for strong finishes. The talent is obvious, but the biggest challenge has been consistency while bouncing between PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour events. He has yet to fully put four rounds together in a PGA Tour setting, and Corales being a debut course with limited data adds another layer of uncertainty. There is no doubt Brown has the skill set to win against this field, but at this number, the clubhouse is taking a cautious approach. A player to root for and monitor closely, but +2500 requires a level of confidence that the current résumé hasn’t earned yet. If he gets it done, it will be a well-deserved hat tip to those willing to believe early. -C

His elite short game and birdie-making ability are ideal fits for Corales. The course history is better than it appears. Jaeger has been a first-round leader here, posted five rounds in the 60s across three appearances, and owns an outstanding record on comparable courses with a win and multiple Top 10s. The only missing piece is a spike week with the irons after a stretch of average approach play. If that returns, he has every chance to contend. The clubhouse is buying in across outrights, placements, and first-round leader markets. -C

The game is trending in the right direction, but at this price, the value is harder to find. The clubhouse leans toward a hat tip rather than a full endorsement—Pendrith is much easier to back than fade, but there are better betting values elsewhere in the field. -C

Insights: Fitzy’s incredible year continues, as he comes into this event — played in his homeland — in as good of form as anyone. His current run features three Top-4 finishes in his last four events, as well as two other Top-25 finishes in six of his last eight events, and that’s on top of wins at RBC Heritage, Valspar and Zurich (if you count the Zurich). Furthermore, he’s been absolutely striping the ball, gaining significantly on Approach in every event since the API in early March. Not to mention, he’s been pretty much equally as good around the greens. In fact, last week’s Scottish Open was the first event he lost strokes ARG since Pebbly Beach in mid-February, and he still finished T3. On the greens, Fitz seems to love putting on these fescue surfaces, which is a good thing considering this is probably the only area that makes you nervous backing him. All things considered, the price is extremely fair given how hot this guy’s game is. -S

Insights: Rory looks primed for another run at the Claret Jug. After using the Scottish Open as preparation, he closed with a brilliant 64 and finished T7 despite a poor Saturday where he lost nearly three strokes on approach. Outside of that round, the game looked exactly where it needs to be, and the extra prep—including a practice round at Royal Birkdale with Sir Nick Faldo weeks before the championship—only adds confidence. His Open résumé speaks for itself with eight top-10 finishes, including seven since his 2014 victory, and few players consistently peak for majors like Rory. The limited schedule continues to suit him, and while he doesn’t always grade perfectly in my model due to fewer starts, he’s firmly back near the top this week. I said a few weeks ago that if I had to pick the next major winner between Rory and Scottie, it was Rory without hesitation, and nothing has changed. Royal Birkdale is one of his favorite Open venues, the links form is undeniable, and after finishing 15-under over three rounds in Scotland, this feels like the ideal setup to contend for a second Claret Jug. At +800, he’s my clear favorite entering the week. -C

Insights: Well, it happened. Scottie Scheffler missed the cut in a professional golf tournament for the first time since the Fed-Ex St. Jude in August of 2022. Nearly four years he went without missing a cut; what a remarkable run for the World #1. The cut highlights some weird dynamics around Scottie’s profile his year. It’s not that he’s playing poorly — it’s somewhat impossible to argue that for someone that’s finished T4 or better in six of his last nine events — but last year’s Open champion hasn’t had that clutch factor about him this year, specifically on Sundays, and he hasn’t really been passing the eye test either. It seems that there’s one area or one round holding him back every time he’s in serious contention. That said, although not as elite across the board as he was earlier this year and late last year, his metrics are still where you want them to be. He’s sitting Top 15 in this field in a majority of key stats this week, and his ball-striking is still very controlled, concise and dependable. Hitting fairways is going to be key for Scottie’s success this week. He’s 11th in Driving Accuracy over his last 24 rounds, so there shouldn’t be an issue there, but if one creeps up, he ranks just 83rd in Rough Proximity in that time. All things considered, the price is so, so, so appealing for the World #1, especially in comparison to the numbers we’re used to seeing on him. He’s eventually going to break through and snatch is first win since January, and this event is probably as good a time as any to buy low without having to solo-barrel it if you didn’t want to (though you probably shouldn’t bet more than one other guy if you have Scottie on the card). -S

Insights: CBez feels like one of the safer names near the top of this board, but whether he wins comes down to one club—the driver. The encouraging signs are there after another solid week at the John Deere, where the approach play and putter clicked together again, giving him four starts in his last seven with gains in both categories. He holds four top-10 finishes worldwide in 2026, including two in opposite-field events, and quietly continues to put himself in contention more often than the results suggest. The good news is Hurstbourne should minimize his biggest weakness off the tee and place far more emphasis on the strengths of his game. He ranks among the Tour’s best in scrambling, sand saves, and around-the-green play, while the putter has remained a reliable weapon on Bentgrass. At 20/1, I understand why he’s one of the favorites, but I’d still like to see a little more confidence with the driver before making him an outright anchor. Hat tip from me this week, though he’s certainly one of the more logical contenders in this field. -C

Insights: Max makes a ton of sense this week, coming into this alternate event as one of the favorites after a solo 2nd at the John Deere last week. It was his third straight Top 25 and second straight event in which he gained in every major strokes-gained category. That’s very much a winning profile, especially considering those events were stronger than the level of competition he will face this week. All that said, even in a weak field, how excited are you to back Homa at 20/1 or shorter? He hasn’t won since 2023 at any level, and he hasn’t exactly shown a clutch gene in the events he was close to winning since then. I’m hard on him because I like Homa, as he’s provided me with two outright winners in the past. Obviously, that’s ancient history at this point. If you see value at this price, in this field, given his form, then I won’t blame you for paying a premium on him this week — but that’s just not my thing. Hat tip for me, maybe some sort of Top 10/Top 20 parlay combined with Aberg at the Scottish? -S

Insights: I gave myself a pat on the back for fading Koivun at the John Deere, but this week is a much tougher decision. The pressure of his professional debut is behind him, he returns to a course where he finished 6th last year, and the field is significantly weaker. The missed cut was largely the result of an unusually poor putting performance, losing over three strokes on the greens despite that typically being one of the strongest parts of his game. The positive takeaway was gaining 1.5 strokes off the tee, suggesting the long game remains in good shape. That said, 14/1 still feels far too short for someone making just his second professional start, regardless of the field strength. Last summer showed the upside with finishes of T11, T6, and T5 in consecutive PGA Tour starts, so the talent is potential. If you’re looking for exposure, I’d rather target DFS, matchups, 3-balls, or even a First Round Leader ticket than chase the outright. For now, I’m happy to watch from the sidelines... though you’ll have to check tomorrow’s newsletter to see if he earns back-to-back Fade of the Week honors. -C

Insights: Rory enters the Scottish Open as the man to beat. While the recent finishes (32-12-7-19) don’t fully reflect it, links golf has always brought out his best. His last three starts here have produced finishes of 1st, 2nd, and 4th, and no player has dominated The Renaissance Club more, playing it at 42-under par (100% of Rounds in 60s including a 64 & 65) over that stretch—12 shots better than anyone else in the field. He also ranks No. 1 Off the Tee at the Scottish Open over the last 24 rounds, making this setup a perfect fit. The light schedule in favor of links preparation, including a practice round with Sir Nick Faldo, suggests Rory has had this stretch circled for a while. Whether it’s this week and/or next, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t contend heavily. At +900, the number isn’t a bargain, patron club to head predicting Rory and Scottie to win next, I’m leaning Rory. -C

Insights: Rahm is one of the kings of the short-LIVed tour that benefits from dual-membership with the DPWT this week — making him eligible to play in the Scottish Open with the PGA pros. Since leaving the Tour, Rahm has been great on an irrelevant tour and largely irrelevant when it matters most in majors outside of his T2 at the PGA Championship in May. I love that he’s playing in this event, but given his lack of success against PGA talent over the last few years, it’s not all that exciting to back him at this number. Looking at his course history, he finished solo 7th in 2021 and T55 in 2022, losing strokes on the greens in both events. Not to mention, he’s lost significant strokes with his irons in two of his last three events (US Open and LIV Korea) and has been a roller coaster around the greens over the last two months. Sure, when you zoom out and look at his full body of work over the last 12 months, the results and strokes-gained numbers are impressive, but take them with a grain of salt given the talent disparity between LIV and PGA. Can Rahm win? Absolutely. Would I bet him at this number and be excited about it? No. If you haven’t used him in OAD in one of the majors yet, this is a great spot to use him. DFS, eh, the price isn’t all that appealing there, either. -S

Insights: Scottie arrives in Scotland off another frustrating near-miss at the Travelers, where a near-59 on Friday turned into a lukewarm weekend while Viktor Hovland closed the door. Even so, the form remains elite with four straight starts gaining in every major strokes gained category. He continues to lead the field in Good Drive Percentage and once again grades out as the clear model favorite, creating a noticeable gap between himself and the rest of the field—including Rory. The question isn’t ball-striking, it’s whether he can finally solve The Renaissance Club greens. Scottie has gained OTT and APP in each of his last two Scottish Open appearances but has lost strokes putting in all four starts here. At 5/1, most bettors will likely look elsewhere, especially with The Open Championship looming next week. The talent and profile make perfect sense, but this feels more like a respectful hat tip than an outright click for me. If the putter finally cooperates, nobody would be surprised to see him lift the trophy on Sunday. -C

Insights: Gotterup deserves to be near the top of the betting board this week. The ball striking has been excellent, gaining on approach in four straight starts while the putter has stayed hot, and he ranks inside the top tier of this field in nearly every key stat for TPC Deere Run. He’s also flashed plenty of upside here, finishing fourth on debut while posting nine of his 10 career rounds in the 60s. Add in a recent run of consistent finishes and it’s easy to understand why he’s the favorite. The concern is simply the price. Around-the-green play has been a liability for much of the spring, and while that’s less important at Deere Run than at most venues, it leaves little margin for error if the irons cool off. He’s also only third in my custom model despite leading the market, suggesting the odds are more a product of a weak field than true separation. Gotterup has the game to win, but at +1600 I’d rather target placement bets, matchups, or One-and-Done than pay a premium on the outright. -C

Insights: On the heels of 4 Top 20s in his last 5 events and playing in a weak field, I understand why Ben Griffin is shorter than 20/1 to win this event. However, I have a hard time actually making the click. Over his last 24 rounds, Griffin is 70th or worse in THIS field in Driving Accuracy, SG: Approach, GIR% and BOB%, so how are we to trust him to win a birdie fest at this price? Plus, he’s 128th or worse in THIS field in the 3 proximity buckets on which I focused this week. Not to mention, his putting has been pretty abysmal over the last 3 events outside of his flukishly good Round 1 last week. In short, there’s absolutely no value here with Griffin. In fact, he just might be my fade of the week? -S

Insights: Young Thor is one of the more intriguing boom-or-bust plays on the board. His history at TPC Deere Run is impossible to ignore—17th in his John Deere Debut, runner-up behind Davis Thompson last year, and 21st in his other appearance. He’s carded a 63 in all three starts here, including the low round of the day in both the second round of 2023 and the final round of 2025, proving he has the firepower to go extremely low on this course. The concern is that his current form doesn’t quite match the upside. Outside of a couple of driving spikes earlier this season, his tee-to-green game has settled closer to field average, and the recent results haven’t inspired much confidence. The talent is undeniable and this feels like the type of weaker field where he could break through, but it still feels like we’re betting more on potential than current form. He’s a player I fully expect to win on Tour, but at this number I’m willing to wait until the overall game starts trending in the right direction. -C
